Morph
For my master graduation project a new creativity support tool is introduced, which is called Morph. This tabletop device allows its user to turn 2d orthographic drawings into a 3d shape in a digital and tangible form. It pursuits the assistance of designers in their creative processes even better than current prototyping techniques. The creation of Morph is based on one main Rhino Grasshopper file, where voxel modelling stands central. With the use of multiple Grasshopper plugins I was able to create this device. The program allows the user to operate the device with a digital user interface, where the orthographic drawings can be scanned in, a 3d shape can be created, where the 3d shape can be adjusted and can be saved. Following the principles of parametric design. Morph is tested with a total of 17 participants in 3 separate occasions, differentiating in setting and design casus. Validating these tests is done with a mixed-method research type, quantitative data is gathered via the Creativity Support Index and qualitative data is gather via semi-structured interviews. The results indicate that Morph does have potential to aid designers in collaboration, exploration, expressiveness and with creating good communicative 3d prototypes with low effort. Technical adjustments need to be made to make the process of the 2d drawing less tedious. With further improvements a better specification can be given to its future functions and target group. Where it can have the effect of assisting its user with refinement, exploration and communication of their 3d visual ideas
